Harmless Substitution"Alright children, I want you all to turn around and face the wall. Good, now cover your ears and close your eyes." Soleil instructed. The kids obediently did as instructed, but as soon as Soleil's attention was on her task, Ava and Crowley uncovered their ears. Crowley did a half-pivot so that he could see what Soleil was doing out of the corner of his eye. Ava caught her reflection in a mirror that was hanging over the sofa.   
Soleil marked a circle in white chalk on the creaky floorboards and then scattered some herbs from a jar on her mantleplace. She then marked a rune for safe passage in the center of the circle and called th Harmless Substitution

"You firstborn son is missing. You should be incapable of looking at the situation objectively." Aradhana all but growled. CJ took a cautious step back.   
"Yeah, I know, but these situations aren't really unusual for me. I got kind of good at turning off the panic and delaying the freaking out when I was fifteen, it's a survival mechanism. You get good at it surprisingly quick-but it doesn't mean I' Some Answers

Some Problematic Malfunctions"Will you take the damn battery out of the smoke detector?!" Clara shrieked.   
"If you're mucking around with a spell you don't understand and making this much smog, then hell no I will not take the batteries out! What if you light the kitchen on fire?!" Nate yelled back.   
"I know how to put out a fire, okay, that was like one of the first things I learned!" Clara insisted. "This isn't working at all. But I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right!"   
Nate took down the smoke detector and removed the batteries before he got a headache, then joined his girlfriend at the kitchen table to peer over her shoulder at the v Some Problematic Malfunctions

damn i'm sleepy. my system is all screwed up lately and i don't get it. i'm sleeping like ten to eleven hours, easy, and still not functioning well. i know i've messed with my food intake, and that could be why, but my food intake before wasn't healthy, so i was hoping the sleep thing would level out...

crowley's gotten himself some enemies and is starting to network amongst the villanious community so my writing should be getting interesting. meanwhile ananda has started defending crowley to the other characters and ava is working on defensive magic...all of the second generation characters are asking after abilities now. crowley's established as a healer and necromancer, and the crawford kids all have extended lifespans, so now they want to know if they have powers. ava's the daughter of a witch and a stoner. ananda, micah and ava are the children of a medium and the grandchildren of a crow spirit. so yeah, logic says those ain't ordinary children.

i'm thinking my NaNo in the fall is going to center on Crowley, Ananda and Ava, so I need to really develop those guys up and figure out what they're going off to do. It seems like a safe idea to turn the Malrin draft as is into a prequel story and have the main action be with the new generation. *cough procrastination cough*

This is a review of The Outsiders that I thought you would find amusing.

Is there room for a comic book based around Alfred Pennyworth fucking people up, Liam Neeson-in-Taken style? You're goddamn right there is. Now, there's never going to be a single Outsiders story worth reading as the team now stands, because it includes characters like Geo-Force, Katana, Halo & Owlman, and those four right there are proof positive that the argument "all super-heroes are basically the same" is factually inaccurate, because really, there are no stories in existence that those four jackals can't fuck up. But if you ignore the actual team stuff that takes up the majority of this comic's pages, you'll discover one of the top five reasons comic books exist: so that you can read stories about an aging, balding-no-more butler flipping the script on some gutter prick. You'll read about Alfred Pennyworth mentioning he used to be an MI-5 officer, and while Peter Tomasi might want to do a little research on MI-5 (MI-6 are the ones who would have been catching bullets "in Tangiers", MI-5 stick around the homefront), he's still gonna earn a pass as long as he's willing to write stories about a shit-kicking butler who punches Deathstroke The Terminator in Deathstroke The Terminator's fucking one-eyed pussy face. There's only one way to get an Alfred Pennyworth: Agent of Annihilate The World mini-series. Vote with your wallet, bitches.
