Wanderings and Hostages"So...what is it you're planning on telling Panda and the twins when they wake up?" Nate asked.  
 
"Shut up." Clara snapped. She wiped sweat from her brow and collapsed onto a chair at the Crawfords' kitchen table, a scowl on her pretty face.  
 
"No, we should probably figure out what we're going to tell them now." Draven said with a sigh. "They're going to be up in a few hours, if not sooner."   
After subduing Aradhana, Draven had sent Crowley across the street to get Clara. Nate had come over a little later with Ava to find out what was going on.   
Clara had bound Aradhana into her pantry and tied Wanderings and Hostages

A Sudden Outburst"I think my foot turned into a giant blister." Evan whined. "Seriously CJ, there's no more foot left, it's all just one massive hurt."   
"I'm sorry Evan, but I can't heal it for you." CJ said slowly, barely clinging to patience. "Work through it, we don't have much choice."   
"Can't we go back to the van?"   
"It was your idea to leave the van." CJ reminded him. They'd decided, after another half hour of driving on the same bit of scenery, that they'd try going by foot. They'd gotten a change in scenery, but now they were really lost.

Tanha and Rahula*Note: This story uses characters I've introduced in my missing children saga, but it is set much later along the timeline. Ananda and Crowley are now 19 and 16 respectively, Ananda is in pre-med at Brown University and Crowley has dropped out of high school. They're living together in an apartment on college hill in Providence.   
When Crowley left that afternoon to run errands his roommate was sitting in the living room with text books and snack food spread around him, frazzled and content looking at the same time as he crammed for a test. He waved at Crowley as he left, sparing the other teen a wide smile before he went back to w Tanha and Rahula

Communication Blunders"You know, this week started out so good..." Draven said with a sigh. "We did all of Crowley's school shopping within the parameters of our budget, Evan cooked supper a couple times without burning anything, the first day of kindergarten went spectacularly...and then...crazy batshit suck."

I'm back on track with my novel. Not only is it conceivable that I'll have a rough draft finished by the end of the summer, it's actually highly likely. I got this writer's digest magazine from Barnes and Noble the other night, and I highly recommend it for any stuck novelists out there. It's brimming with helpful, encouraging advice for people at all stages of novel writing, and it pulled me out of my stagnating funk.

The other night I saved my lumbering, mostly useless 80,000 word draft to CD, then opened my files and slashed out every scene that wouldn't work, putting in summaries and notes of things I need to rework, rewrite and just come up with completely. So now I have a draft in progress again that is not in the least intimidating. I'm still working on the first chapter of the second section, but I've already rewritten half of it. Last night I was able to trim down one unwieldy scene from seven to two pages.

I haven't been this energized about my book in a long, long time. If all goes well, I could be submitting to publishers as early as next summer.

So...anybody want to help edit?
